The DEEP Program Structure

The DEEP Summer Academy 2010 runs for 4 weeks during the month of July at the St. George Campus of the University of Toronto, located in downtown Toronto.

Week 1: July 5 – 9, 2010
Week 2: July 12 – 16, 2010
Week 3: July 19 – 23, 2010
Week 4 (Design Week): July 26 – 30, 2010

Start by reviewing our incredible range of week-long courses and determining which ones align with your academic interests and future goals. DEEP courses tackle some of the most interesting and innovative topics being studied within the fields of engineering, technology, applied science and business.

Courses are designed into subject areas or “streams” for the first three weeks of DEEP. While it is suggested that students follow through a single stream to gain the full impact of the course, students may select from different streams to customize their DEEP experience.

Week 4 of DEEP is called DEEP Design Week. DEEP Design Week offers capstone courses that challenge students to put their knowledge to the test by tackling real-world engineering design projects. DEEP Design Week gives student a hands-on look at what engineering design is all about. Students wishing to participate in DEEP Design Week, must have taken at least one DEEP course in Week 1, 2 or 3.

Course Structure

DEEP courses start at 9:30 am and end at 3:30 pm (with a one-hour lunch break). Each DEEP course includes lectures, design projects, and laboratory experiments. While courses do not have mandatory homework assignments or tests, optional assignments and readings may be included.

Residence

To round out your university experience, why not live on-campus during DEEP? Students who live in residence during their time at DEEP have the opportunity to explore the best of what the University of Toronto and the City of Toronto have to offer. Join other DEEP students in all sorts of fun on- and off-campus activities. Please note that living in residence during DEEP is fully optional.
